I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

Lord of the Rings movies are a masterpiece.

There are so many reasons that make them so.

And if you focus, you will observe one fantastic property in all the movies – the rule of three.

Except for the obvious one – there being three movies, there are many uses of it throughout all three movies.

In the video below you can find just one example by Gimli:

Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?

Using the rule of three is very effective because our brains like to remember in patterns, and three is the smallest number that forms one (just try saying your phone number out loud!).

That’s why the rule of three is so effective in storytelling, speeches, and presentations (see what I did here 😏).

So the next time you are preparing a presentation, try to incorporate it.

But as with anything, use it naturally—don’t force it!

What’s your favorite rule of three moment in The Lord of the Rings (or any other movie)? 🎬👇

Video from In Concert Live to Film, Olympic Hall, Munich, brought to life by the Munich Symphony Orchestra, together with the TUM Choir and the Wolfratshausen Children’s Choir.

It was an amazing event, and if you are a fan, I highly recommend it.
